So Austin has some wonderful greenbelts and walking paths within the city which is great when you sometimes just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I grew up in a small town in central Minnesota so sometimes being amongst almost 2 million people can feel a little overwhelming. Luckily, where we live, we have a greenbelt with a couple of miles of dirt path that I love to run or take the dogs walking on. We also have connected to it, a path that winds to the back of a shopping complex. It’s kind of cool because I can basically do a little window shopping, then walk along the greenbelt back home.
We did just that yesterday, just because it was so beautiful out. It was 85 and sunny and we just wanted to be outside, so we walked up to the shopping complex, wandered around World Market, Barnes and Noble, your usual shopping destinations, then hit the greenbelt back to the apartments. We had just gotten rain over the last couple of days so there were quite a few patches of standing water. I think Austin has a water system built so that if there is a lot of rain, it will pump it to outlying areas to distribute the water. Or this is my guess anyways, just from observation because every time we get a big rain, these giant sprinklers go off. Makes for a cool photo opportunity either way.
